About Math Teacher Mommy

Hello and Welcome to Math Teacher Mommy!

I am glad you are visiting my blog and hope you find some interesting and helpful information.  I am currently a stay-at-home mom with my 5 month old daughter, Hannah.  However, I have been a middle school math teacher for the past 6 years (teaching 6th grade for two years and 7th grade for four years).

During my time out of the classroom, I stumble across situations daily where I need to use mathematical skills and reasoning.  The teacher in me automatically starts thinking about how this could connect to concepts that my students are learning in the classroom.  Since right now I do not have any students, other than Hannah, I wanted to use this blog to share some of these everyday math problems I come across.  My hope is that this blog will be useful to teachers looking for examples of real-life math situations (to answer that age-old student question: "When are we ever going to use this?!") or parents who would like to think of ways to have meaningful conversations with their children about mathematics.
